Park Features

Nestled over 4.7 acres, this urban green space offers a peaceful retreat for locals and anyone passing through. Tucked into a residential neighborhood, Apache Park provides that much-needed dose of nature without having to trek out of town.

There are some really nice walking trails that meander through lush greenery - ideal for when you need to clear your head or get some steps in. If you've got little ones just learning to ride bikes or scoot around, these paths are long enough to give them a good practice run. There's also plenty of open grassy space where you can throw down a blanket for impromptu picnics or just lounge around on a sunny day.

Recreation Areas

The playground is definitely a highlight here. It's relatively new and kept in great shape, featuring a cool rock wall and multiple slides that the kids can't seem to get enough of. It's especially good for toddlers (2+) and younger elementary schoolers. Parents will appreciate that the play area is covered with clean wood chips without any weeds or safety hazards lurking about.

For the more sports-minded visitors, there's a baseball field where you can enjoy a casual game. It's one of those features that really brings the community together on nice days.

Shelter and Picnic Facilities

Need a break from the sun? The park's pavilion offers a charming spot to catch your breath and take in the surroundings. It's just right for family picnics or small get-togethers without any fuss. What we like about Apache Park's layout is how it balances open sunny areas with shaded spots, making it pleasant to visit no matter what kind of day you're having or what season it is.

Maintenance

The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department keeps things running smoothly here, and it shows. The grass is well-kept, the areas clean, and nothing feels neglected. Apache Park might not be the biggest or flashiest park in Cedar Rapids, but its tidy, welcoming atmosphere makes it a pleasant secluded spot in the city.
