Natural Features
Cedar Niles Park is a vast 957-acre natural area located in Olathe, Kansas. The park, which opened to the public in April 2022, showcases the diverse landscapes of Johnson County, featuring mixed woodlands, streams, and varied topography.
The park's natural assets include dramatic terrain and a wide array of plant life, providing visitors with a sense of being in the backcountry.
Trail System
The park offers an extensive trail system designed to accommodate various recreational activities. There are 4 miles of multi-use paved trails suitable for walking, jogging, and cycling.
For more adventurous visitors, the park also includes 4.5 miles of single-track trails known as the Columbine Loop, which caters to mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts. This unpaved trail, named after the native wildflower abundant in the northern portion, is considered medium-difficulty.
Location and Access
Cedar Niles Park stretches from approximately 119th Street to just past 135th Street, west of K-7 highway. The park has multiple access points, including entrances at 135th Street, at 127th Street and Clare Road, and at 119th Street west of K-7.
Each of these access points is equipped with amenities to enhance visitor experience and convenience.
Park Information
The park is open year-round from 5AM to 8PM, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing seasons and diverse ecosystems within its boundaries.
As part of ongoing development plans, the park includes recreational amenities and ecological restoration projects, enhancing its value as a natural resource for the community.
