About the Location

Location and Overview

Tucked at the intersection of Huron Parkway and Edgewood Drive in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Scheffler Park is a cozy neighborhood green space spanning 5.52 acres. This intimate space is located in the southeastern part of the city, offering a bit of green amid the surrounding neighborhoods. Just a heads-up: the park sits close to Platt Road, which can get a bit busy with traffic.

Playground Adventures

The recently renovated playground is popular with local children. The playground features a rope bridge that's quite popular, along with a unique spinner cage that children particularly enjoy.

The playground features a modest climbing structure complete with slides and ladders set over wood chips - well-suited for children up to around 12 years old who need to burn off some energy.

Recreation Spaces

On one side of the park, you'll come across a softball field ready for casual games, while open grassy areas invite impromptu picnics, frisbee sessions, or whatever sport strikes your fancy.

The Platt Road side offers several picnic tables with attached benches, nicely shaded by mature trees for most of the day. There are also charcoal grills available if you're in the mood for a cookout with friends or family.

The park's location makes it easily accessible on foot or bike for those who live in the surrounding area.

Natural Features

A small stream meanders through the park, crossed by a charming footbridge that connects both sides. The bridge offers a spot to pause and listen to the flowing water below.

When winter blankets Ann Arbor, Scheffler transforms into a serene snow-covered retreat that showcases Michigan's seasonal beauty.

Amenities

Bringing your four-legged friend? Scheffler is dog-friendly, and many neighbors regularly walk their pets on both sides of the stream. There's even a thoughtfully placed ground-level water fountain specifically for thirsty pups.

For human needs, a porta-potty is typically available, although note that there are no permanent restroom facilities in the park.

Atmosphere

The modest size and low-key vibe of Scheffler Park have made it a neighborhood favorite. One side does experience some traffic noise from Platt Road, but that doesn't seem to deter the locals.

While it may not compete with Ann Arbor's more photogenic parks, Scheffler offers exactly what nearby residents often need - a convenient touch of nature for those moments when you just need to step outside and breathe.
