About the Location
A Natural Oasis
Lake of the Isles Park is part of the Chain of Lakes Regional Park and features a serene 109-acre engineered lake. The lake is encircled by 2.76 miles of biking trails and 2.63 miles of pedestrian paths, offering a tranquil escape complemented by its stately surrounding neighborhoods, including Kenwood, Lowry Hill, and East Isles.
Known for its picturesque views, the park includes two protected islands — Mike's Island and Raspberry Island — which serve as wildlife refuges. These islands, once part of a larger four-island complex, are off-limits to visitors to preserve their natural habitats.

History and Development
Originally a shallow marshland, the lake was dredged in the early 20th century to create the park and its surrounding land. Today, Lake of the Isles Park exemplifies the balance between enhancing recreational opportunities and maintaining environmental sustainability.
Extensive restoration projects, including shoreline stabilization and wetland enhancements, have been pivotal in preserving its aesthetic appeal and ecological integrity.

Recreation Opportunities
Visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as walking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, and ice skating during the winter months. The park also features unique landmarks, including the Peavey Fountain, which was originally installed in 1891 and later rededicated as a memorial to horses of the Minnesota National Guard killed during World War I.
The absence of a public swimming beach does not detract from the park's popularity, as it remains a beloved destination for both recreation and relaxation.
