Located in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood of Minneapolis, Marcy Park is a 1.27-acre space that offers a peaceful escape from city life. Just east of the Mississippi River, this park has transformed from the former Marcy School site into a community space where families, college students, and locals gather.

Park Features

Despite its compact size, Marcy Park contains several amenities. The recently updated playground is ideal for the little ones, with tot-lot equipment that's now cushioned with mulch instead of the old sandy surface (your kids' shoes will thank you!).

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the full basketball court that replaced an old gazebo during recent renovations. If you're planning a get-together, the picnic area provides a lovely setting for outdoor meals. And for those who just want to take it slow, the walking paths and upgraded benches offer comfortable spots to catch your breath or lose yourself in thought.

Dog Park

Four-legged friends haven't been forgotten here! The fenced dog park may not be huge, but it gives local pups a dedicated space to run free and socialize. It features a gravel surface that handles rainy days well, but it can kick up some dust when the dogs get particularly playful. Note that you might need to pay a small fee to use this area - a small price for your pup's happiness.

Relaxation Areas

The park includes a hammocking grove, where you can relax with a book on sunny afternoons. The surrounding evergreen trees provide shade and a sense of seclusion from the city, offering a quiet spot for relaxation or community gatherings.

Recent Improvements

The park was renovated in 2023 as part of the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan. The addition of the basketball court, dog park, and hammocking area, along with improved lighting and pathways, has doubled the recreational options at this modest park.
