About the Location
A Green Space with a Purpose
Tucked within the larger Riverside Park in Minneapolis, Annie Young Meadow is a peaceful retreat that carries a meaningful legacy. Named after Annie Young, a passionate environmental advocate and long-serving park board commissioner, this spot (formerly Lower Riverside Park until its 2018 renaming) embodies the environmental values its namesake championed throughout her life.

River Views and Natural Charm
Situated along the West River Parkway, this tranquil space offers lovely views of the Mississippi River and a chance to disconnect from city life without going far.
You'll find short wooded trails ideal for a quick nature fix, but don't expect lengthy hikes - these paths are quite brief. For picnickers, the meadow provides several long, solid picnic tables with attached benches and those classic built-in grills (the small iron box on rod type) that practically scream "summer afternoon."
Shaded areas with comfortable seating make this a pleasant spot even on warmer days. During peak seasons, a portable toilet is available - always a practical consideration for longer visits.

Simple Pleasures Along the River
What the meadow lacks in fancy amenities, it makes up for in simple joys. In the evenings, you might catch rowing teams practicing on the river - an unexpectedly meditative sight as oars slice through the water in rhythm.
Cyclists frequently use this spot as a breather along the riverside trail system. It's a wonderful place to hop off your bike, stretch your legs, and take in the river views for a moment.
Bringing your four-legged friend? The area is dog-friendly, making it a nice spot for a quick outdoor adventure with your pup.

A Community Haven
Though not the largest park in Minneapolis, Annie Young Meadow provides space for quiet reflection, casual recreation, and small gatherings with friends or family.
The riverside setting invites simple exploration, with some visitors enjoying impromptu treasure hunts for driftwood and other river-washed curiosities along the bank.
This meadow is part of Minneapolis's network of green spaces, offering a natural experience in the urban landscape that reflects Annie Young's environmental values.
You'll find free street parking along the road, however spaces can fill up during popular times. Note that parking isn't permitted after 10PM when the park closes for the day.
