About the Location
Natural Beauty
Valley View Park is a 17.5-acre park located just north of Theodore Wirth Golf Club on Theodore Wirth Parkway in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is part of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway and is connected to Theodore Wirth Park and Victory Memorial Parkway by walking and biking paths.
Interestingly, most of the park is situated in the neighboring city of Golden Valley, making it one of the few parks to cross the city's border.
History
The park was initially acquired by the Minneapolis Park Board in 1927, with additional land purchased in 1928 to establish a connection with Glenwood (now Wirth) Park. The name "Valley View" is descriptive and has never been officially adopted.
The park offers scenic views over open country from Sunset Hill on Memorial Parkway, a feature that was considered important during its acquisition.
