About the Location
Location and Views
Found in the eastern part of Las Vegas, Nevada, Hollywood Regional Park sits at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. What we really like about this spot? It offers one of the best views of the Las Vegas skyline in the valley, thanks to its location in the foothills of Frenchman Mountain.
If you're looking for that perfect Instagram moment, head here at sunset when the city transforms before your eyes. As daylight fades and the city lights begin to twinkle, you'll capture a panoramic view that stretches from the iconic Strip all the way to downtown Las Vegas.
Recent Expansion
In 2023, Hollywood Regional Park got a serious upgrade with an additional 76 acres of recreational space. This wasn't just a minor facelift - it was a significant transformation that expanded the park's offerings considerably.
The expansion brought a diverse range of new features that cater to pretty much everyone, from fitness enthusiasts to families with young children. What was once a simple park now offers many more recreational options.
Walking Trails
Lace up those walking shoes! One of the highlights of the expanded park is its extensive network of trails. With over two miles of new, spacious 10-foot wide concrete paths, there's plenty of room for everyone - if you're out for a brisk morning jog or enjoying a leisurely evening stroll.
Keeping track of your fitness goals is easy with distance markers placed at quarter-mile intervals along the routes. You'll also find interesting informational displays scattered throughout, offering insights into the area's history and natural features.
Just a heads-up: there isn't much shade along these trails, so if you're visiting during those scorching summer months, you might want to plan your walk for early morning or evening hours.
Sports Facilities
The park now features four new natural turf soccer fields plus a warm-up field, suitable for both organized leagues and casual games.
If you enjoy pickleball, you'll find eight dedicated pickleball courts complete with lighting for evening play. These courts are popular among local players.
Baseball and softball players haven't been forgotten either. The park houses several baseball/softball fields with night lighting for evening games. The fields are generally well-maintained, but the infield conditions can vary from time to time.
Pet-Friendly Areas
The park now features four new dog park areas where dogs can run, play, and socialize off-leash in a safe, enclosed environment.
Thoughtfully designed with both pets and owners in mind, these areas are separated by size so that smaller dogs don't have to compete with their larger counterparts. Water is available for thirsty pups, but you might notice it has a slight sulfur smell - but hey, your dog probably won't mind!
Recreation Center and Aquatic Facility
Right next door to the park stands the Hollywood Recreation Center, a hub for community programs and classes for all ages. It's a great place to check out if you're looking to connect with others or try something new.
When temperatures soar, the Hollywood Aquatic Center becomes the place to be. With water slides, a splash pad, and swimming areas for both kids and adults, it's an affordable way to beat the heat. One of the best parts? You can bring your own food and coolers, making it easy to spend an entire day splashing around without breaking the bank.
Natural Beauty
Amidst all the recreational amenities, the park hasn't forgotten its natural roots. The expansion incorporated desert native gardens that enhance the park's beauty and showcase the unique desert flora of the region.
If you visit during spring, you'll see seasonal wildflowers in bloom, creating pockets of vibrant color against the desert landscape. These make for stunning photos, especially with the Las Vegas skyline representing a backdrop.
Picnic Areas and Playgrounds
Spread around the park, you'll discover numerous covered picnic areas equipped with tables and benches - perfect spots for family gatherings or casual outdoor meals. Some areas even come with BBQ grills for those who want to cook up something tasty while enjoying the fresh air.
For the younger visitors, there are playgrounds featuring slides, swings, and climbing equipment to burn off that endless energy. The park thoughtfully provides separate play areas designed for different age groups, ensuring both toddlers and older children have age-appropriate places to play.
Parking and Accessibility
The park has 310 new vehicle spaces added during the expansion. This means you'll typically find a spot without too much hassle, even on busier days.
That said, during special events or particularly beautiful weekends, these spaces can fill up quickly. If you're planning to visit during peak times, arriving a bit earlier than you might normally will save you the headache of circling for a spot.
Hollywood Regional Park offers a mix of active sports areas, peaceful natural spaces, and various amenities. Whether you're looking for fitness opportunities, family activities, or just want to enjoy nature and the city views, you'll find plenty of options here.
