Park Overview

Positioned in Charlotte's Double Oaks neighborhood, Anita Stroud Park is a peaceful six-acre green space away from the bustle of city life. This green space sits alongside a development of condos and townhomes, providing a nearby outdoor area for locals and a nice spot for visitors passing through.

Facilities & Amenities

While modest in size, this park packs in plenty of recreation options. Shoot some hoops on the basketball court or watch the kids explore the playground that cleverly caters to multiple age groups. The play area has a good balance - varied slides and equipment that's engaging without being overwhelming (parents, you know what we mean!).

When lunchtime rolls around, claim one of the shaded picnic tables conveniently positioned near the playground - keeping those sandwich-munching kiddos within eyesight. Planning a family get-together? The park's shelter and grilling area make for an ideal weekend hangout spot.

Trails & Accessibility

One of our favorite features here is the walking trail that winds through the grounds. It remained a neighborhood lifeline even during pandemic restrictions, offering a breath of fresh air when we needed it most. Just a heads-up: the park only offers limited street parking, so you might want to arrive early on beautiful weekend days.

Renovation Plans

Exciting changes are coming to Anita Stroud! Renovations currently underway will bring cycling and running trails, a restored natural stream, and lovely botanical ponds. We're particularly looking forward to the planned wildflower areas that will add seasonal color and support local pollinators.

Additional Information

A few practical notes before you visit: the park doesn't have restroom facilities, so plan accordingly. There's a nice open grassy area excellent for stretching out with a book or practicing your yoga poses. Keep an eye out for red ants near the pond area, especially around that isolated slide - nature's little reminder that we're sharing the space!

In this urban setting, Anita Stroud provides outdoor space where you can relax, exercise, and chat with neighbors. It's not the biggest park in Charlotte, but it offers a welcome touch of nature within the neighborhood.
