Northgate Park

Park Overview

Northgate Park is a 31-acre public park located in northeast Durham, North Carolina. The park sits along Ellerbe Creek and features both natural areas and recreational facilities.

Originally established in the 1930s, Northgate Park has long been a centerpiece of the surrounding Northgate Park neighborhood.

Natural Features

The park contains mature trees and wooded areas along with open green spaces. Ellerbe Creek runs through the park, providing opportunities for wildlife viewing and environmental education.

In recent years, the park has undergone restoration efforts to improve water quality in Ellerbe Creek and enhance the natural habitats. Parts of the park now feature "no mow zones" to allow native plants and ecosystems to thrive.
