About the Location
A Cozy Neighborhood Retreat
Tucked away just a mile south of Downtown Raleigh, Caraleigh Park offers a modest but charming green space spanning 0.57 acres. This little neighborhood location might be small in size, but it provides a nice outdoor space for locals looking to enjoy some fresh air close to home.
Exciting Changes Coming Soon
Here's some good news - Caraleigh Park is getting a makeover! In March 2023, the City of Raleigh secured an Accessibility for Parks Grant that will transform this space with universal design in mind. The focus? Making the park welcoming for everyone through sensory play and improved accessibility features.
The renovation plans include a new ADA-accessible ramp to ensure the park can be enjoyed by all visitors. Basketball enthusiasts will appreciate the upcoming court renovations, while families can look forward to a brand-new playground complete with safety surfacing and thoughtfully designed sensory play equipment.
You'll also notice general improvements to the open areas, new landscaping, and additional shade options (perfect for those hot North Carolina summers). Even the nearby bus stop is getting an upgrade, making it easier to visit the park using public transportation.
What You'll Find Today
While waiting for these improvements, Caraleigh Park still offers some nice basics. The outdoor basketball court features four hoops on a concrete surface - great for a quick pickup game with neighbors. For the little ones, there's a playground area with wooden climbing structures, slides, and monkey bars to explore. Currently, the playground has a sand surface, but this will likely change with the upcoming renovations.
