Park Overview

Tucked away in Raleigh, North Carolina, Green Road Park spans a generous 29 acres of public recreational space. Since opening its gates in 1985, this well-kept park has become a local favorite with its clean grounds and plenty of parking for visitors. Whether you're planning a quick afternoon outing or a full day outdoors, the park offers a variety of activities.

Community Center

Green Road Park features a community center where locals attend programs and classes year-round.

Inside, you can find two spacious gymnasiums meant for shooting hoops or playing volleyball, several meeting rooms for community gatherings, and a well-equipped fitness room with both machines and free weights. The staff here are genuinely helpful - always ready to point you in the right direction or answer questions about the facilities.

Library

One of the park's unique features is its on-site public library - a quiet haven among the recreational buzz. With its quiet atmosphere and well-stocked children's section, it's a nice spot to cool down with a good book after outdoor activities.

Outdoor Sports Facilities

For outdoor activities, the park has several tennis courts with push-button lighting available until 10 p.m. year-round. You'll also find outdoor basketball courts and sand volleyball courts that are popular during the warmer months.

Baseball enthusiasts can enjoy two different fields: a regulation adult field stretching 350 feet to the fence and a smaller youth field at 287 feet. These fields regularly host local softball games and little league matchups, bringing the community together through sports.

Family-Friendly Amenities

Kids will make a beeline for the colorful playground designed specifically for children ages 5-12. While not enormous, the play area features a safety-conscious woodchip surface and includes a sandbox that tends to be a hit with the younger crowd.

Within the park, you'll discover peaceful green spaces and winding walking paths that invite leisurely strolls and impromptu picnics. The setting is convenient for parents with energetic children.

Picnic Areas

When hunger strikes, head to the large covered picnic area equipped with tables for group gatherings or family meals. There are grills available too, but you might want to bring some cleaning supplies as they sometimes need a quick wipe-down before use.

Exciting changes are coming to Green Road Park thanks to the 2022 Parks Bond Referendum. The planned renovations focus on making the park more accessible, safer, and even more enjoyable for everyone.
