Long Leaf Park

Long Leaf Park is a 115-acre public park located in Wilmington, North Carolina. Established in 1997, the park offers a diverse range of recreational facilities and natural spaces for visitors to enjoy. The park features gently rolling hills and is characterized by its namesake longleaf pine trees, which provide ample shade throughout the grounds.

The park includes several athletic facilities, including four Little League baseball fields with lights, four lighted tennis courts, and a full-sized basketball court. For those seeking less structured activities, there is a 1.55-mile walking trail that winds through the park, offering opportunities for exercise and nature observation.

Long Leaf Park is also known for its inclusive playground, designed to accommodate children of all abilities. The playground includes equipment that is accessible to children with various physical challenges, ensuring that all young visitors can participate in play activities.

The park features six reservable picnic shelters, making it a popular spot for family gatherings, reunions, and community events. A special Wedding Garden Area, complete with a pond and gazebo, provides a scenic setting for outdoor ceremonies.

For pet owners, the park includes a dedicated off-leash dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs. Other amenities include a sand volleyball court, an outdoor fitness area, and a splashpad that operates seasonally from May through September.
