The Quarry at Grant Park is a 200-acre public park located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The park's centerpiece is a former granite quarry that operated from the mid-1920s until the early 1970s.
After mining operations ceased, the quarry slowly filled with groundwater, creating a deep blue lake approximately 175 feet deep.
Scenic Overlooks
The park features an iconic observation deck called "The BOOM" that extends over the eastern edge of the quarry, offering panoramic views of the turquoise waters below and the Winston-Salem skyline in the distance.
Multiple overlooks throughout the park provide different perspectives of the quarry and surrounding landscape.
Park Development
Opened to the public in August 2017, The Quarry at Grant Park transformed the former industrial site into a unique recreational space. The park preserves elements of its mining history while providing new amenities for visitors.
A walking trail circles the quarry, allowing guests to explore the area's natural beauty and observe how nature has reclaimed the former industrial landscape.
