About the Park
Historical Significance
Established in 2013, Miller's Landing Park was developed on land with historical significance. The site was once owned by Harry Miller of Miller Lumber Company and served as a lumber holding area and staging ground for delivery wagons in the early 20th century.
In 2010, a community fundraising effort led by The Trust for Public Land helped acquire the land to preserve it as a public park.
Park Features
This 4.7-acre community park is situated along the Deschutes River and offers scenic views of the water. The park provides access to the Deschutes River Trail, connecting the Riverside neighborhood to the Old Mill District.
The park features open lawn areas, walking paths, and river access points for activities such as swimming, fishing, and boating. A picnic shelter is available for small to medium-sized gatherings, providing a space for community events and family outings.
Community Garden
The park includes a community garden managed by the Miller's Landing Community Garden Group, offering local residents the opportunity to grow their own produce.
Ongoing Improvements
Miller's Landing Park is currently undergoing improvements as part of a river access and restoration project. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility for all users, including those with mobility restrictions, by redeveloping the boardwalk and improving river access points.
The project, slated for completion in summer 2025, will also focus on habitat restoration along the riverbank.
