About the Location
A Modern Recreation Hub
Alpenglow Community Park is a 37-acre community park located in southeast Bend, Oregon. Opened in 2022, the park serves as a hub for recreation activities, community gatherings, and opportunities to enjoy nature in one of Bend's rapidly growing areas.
Natural Landscape Design
The park's design showcases the high desert landscape, incorporating mature stands of ponderosa pine and juniper trees. With less than 8% of the park space being lawn area, Alpenglow Community Park is intentionally abundant with natural areas.
The views of the Cascade Mountains to the west provided inspiration for the park's name.
Extensive Trail Network
Alpenglow Community Park features 3.5 miles of developed trails, including 2.2 miles of ADA-accessible paved paths and a 0.9-mile perimeter loop path. There are also 1.3 miles of soft surface natural trails.
These pathways and trail connections bring new recreation and transportation possibilities for a wide variety of users.
Unique Recreational Features
The park includes Bend's first public bouldering area, consisting of three structures with natural routes, set routes with hand-holds, and accessible routes with rope assist climbing for adaptive climbers and climbers with disabilities.
Another unique feature is the seasonal sprayground "splash pad", providing a fun water play area for children during warmer months.
Sustainable Design
Alpenglow Community Park is designed to be self-reliant for energy use, with a goal of net-zero energy consumption. Solar panels are included in the park design to support the electricity needed for the event pavilion, restrooms, lights, and irrigation.
