About the Location
Park Overview
Tucked away in eastern Bend, Mountain View Park spans 4.2 acres, serving the surrounding neighborhood. This compact community space packs in plenty of recreational options that cater to locals of all ages and abilities.
One of the park's subtle charms is its beautiful views of Pilot Butte rising against the horizon. Just a heads-up though - shade is somewhat limited here, so you might want to bring a hat and sunscreen during those peak summer months when the Oregon sun shows no mercy.
Recreational Amenities
The park features open lawn areas good for impromptu frisbee games or just lounging with a good book. Fully accessible walking paths meander throughout, ideal for a leisurely morning stroll or when you're just looking to stretch your legs a bit.
Kids will enjoy the playground area, which is separated into two zones: a toddler playground where the little ones can safely explore, and a larger playground structure where older children can climb and adventure to their hearts' content. This setup makes it convenient for families with children of different ages.
For those with a competitive streak, the half-court basketball area offers a space to shoot some hoops, work on your jump shot, or challenge neighbors to a friendly game.
Gathering Spaces
Sometimes you just need a spot to sit and breathe in the fresh mountain air. The park's picnic shelter comfortably fits 8 people, making it just right for intimate birthday celebrations, family picnics, or catching up with friends over lunch.
We're particularly fond of the chess/checkers table that invites passersby to slow down and engage in a battle of wits - a surprisingly charming addition that adds character to this neighborhood location.
Facilities
A portable toilet is available on-site for when nature calls.
While not the largest park in Bend, Mountain View Park offers a pleasant space where the Mountain View neighborhood can connect, play, and relax.
