About the Location
History and Development
Located in the heart of Bend, Stover Park is a cozy 2.2-acre neighborhood green space. This cozy park came to life back in 1972 through a collaborative effort between the City of Bend and the Kiwanis Club.
The park honors the legacy of Byron "Dutch" Stover, who dedicated his life to supporting local children and athletes throughout the Bend community.
Recreation Facilities
At the heart of the park sits a youth baseball field where you'll come across high school fast pitch softball teams and little league baseball players making memories during game days. A tall arborvitae hedge creates a natural barrier between the outfield and the playground, keeping the two spaces nicely separated.
Amenities and Layout
The playground area benefits from the cooling shade of several mature trees, making it a comfortable spot even on warmer days. There's something charmingly old-school about the playground equipment here - including metal slides (just a heads-up: these can get pretty toasty during sunny afternoons!).
You'll also find a nice open lawn area that's well-suited for picnics, frisbee, or simply letting the kids burn off some energy. In autumn, the fallen leaves from those beautiful mature trees create nature's perfect playground for little ones to jump and crunch through.
Access and Location
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, Stover Park sits in a peaceful residential area away from major traffic. This off-the-beaten-path location contributes to its serene atmosphere. If you're driving, you can find street parking available along the adjacent side road.
Facilities
The park offers a portable toilet for when nature calls. While basic in its offerings, Stover Park's secluded setting and green spaces make it a treasured spot for neighbors and visitors coming to enjoy the baseball and softball games.
