About the Location

Natural Features

Stone Creek Park is a 6.17-acre community park located in southeast Bend, Oregon, directly west of Silver Rail Elementary School. The park is defined by its distinctive basalt lava features, which form a mini butte-like natural area in the center, offering sweeping views southeast to China Hat Butte and even the Newberry National Volcanic Monument.

While a majority of the park remains in its natural state, it is made accessible through a network of unpaved trails. These trails weave through the basalt formations and natural areas, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore the local landscape and geology.

Recreational Amenities

Stone Creek Park features a blend of modern recreational facilities and nature-inspired play areas. It includes a small bike pump track for beginners to hone their skills, as well as a modest skate spot with basic features such as a box, flat rail, and ramp.

The park also incorporates natural play areas, designed to encourage creative and unstructured play. These areas include sand boxes with "log steppers," a water trough, a mini "excavator," and smoothed logs, all aimed at providing a more nature-oriented play experience.

Park History

Stone Creek Park was developed in 2017, with land acquisitions occurring between 2014 and 2018 from various entities including the Lands Bend Corporation, City of Bend, Kent Neumann, and Bradford Kent.

The park's name is derived from the neighborhood development in which it is situated.
