About Earlewood Park in Columbia
Earlewood Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Columbia, South Carolina. Located in the historic Earlewood neighborhood just north of downtown, this 66-acre urban forest covers rolling hills and valleys with mature groves of trees. The park is noted for its many varieties of wildflowers, making it one of the most natural parks in the city.
The park features a 0.2-mile walking track just off North Main Street, lined with large shade trees and offering views of Smith Branch Creek. The packed sand trail is suitable for both walkers and runners. At the heart of the park is the Virginia Bedford Community Center, named after a late neighborhood advocate, which offers various programs including summer camps and public computer access.
Earlewood Park is also home to one of the best disc golf courses in the Southeast, attracting enthusiasts from around the region. The park's diverse landscape and facilities make it a centerpiece of the Earlewood neighborhood, providing residents and visitors alike with ample opportunities for recreation and relaxation in a natural setting.
The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., with the community center operating from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
