Volunteer Landing Park is a linear park situated along the Tennessee River in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. Spanning approximately 12.5 acres, this urban waterfront park offers visitors a scenic environment for recreation and relaxation.

Riverwalk and Historical Features

The park features a one-mile paved riverwalk that runs parallel to the Tennessee River, providing ample opportunities for walking, jogging, and cycling. Along the riverwalk, visitors can find historical markers that offer insights into Knoxville's past and its connection to the river.

Water Features and River Access

Volunteer Landing Park includes several water features that add to its appeal. During warmer months, children can enjoy splash pads and fountains, though it's worth noting that as of 2021, some water features were temporarily closed.

The park also provides direct access to the river, making it a popular spot for fishing and paddling activities.

Connected Greenways

The park serves as a connector for multiple greenways in Knoxville's urban trail system. It links the James White Greenway and the Neyland Greenway, allowing for extended walks or bike rides through the city's green spaces.

University of Tennessee Connection

Volunteer Landing Park is also known for its role during University of Tennessee football games. On game days, the area becomes a gathering place for the "Vol Navy," a tradition where fans arrive by boat to tailgate and show support for the team.

Management

The park is managed by the Public Building Authority (PBA) and is open from 6AM to 12AM daily. Its central location makes it easily accessible for both residents and visitors to Knoxville.
