Park Overview

Located in Memphis, Tennessee, Heroes Park spans 20 acres of public recreational space where you can take a break from the city. The park maintains a pleasantly quiet atmosphere most days, and while you'll come across it generally well-kept with minimal litter, the grass cutting schedule seems to march to its own beat sometimes.

Sports Facilities

If you're looking to get your game on, the park offers open fields for various activities. There's a baseball and softball area, however it's pretty bare-bones with just a backstop - so remember to toss those bases in your trunk if you're planning a proper game.

The soccer setup follows the same minimalist approach: an open field where you'll need to bring your own goals if you want the full experience.

Fitness and Recreation

Need to stretch your legs? The park features a 1/2 mile walking trail that meanders through partially wooded terrain. It's not going to challenge any marathon runners, but it's fantastic for a casual stroll to clear your head.

There's a playground area with benches nearby for parents to sit while keeping an eye on the little ones. Just a heads-up: some of the equipment is showing its age, particularly the swings that hang rather close to the ground.

Gathering Spaces

Planning a get-together? The park's rental pavilion comes equipped with grills and can be reserved for your events - just make sure to book at least 14 days ahead.

Across the park, you'll come across picnic tables that serve their purpose, but they've weathered quite a few seasons and might not always be spotlessly clean. During summer months, expect some uninvited six-legged guests at your outdoor meals.

Visitor Tips

For the most peaceful experience, try visiting during off-peak hours when the park is less crowded. Keep in mind that some visitors have encountered unleashed dogs, so if you're bringing small children, staying alert is a good idea.

The park is popular with families, with plenty of open spaces where kids can run around freely.
