About the Location
A Historic Location in Nashville
Tucked away just two miles from downtown Nashville, E.S. Rose Park spans 24 acres of what was once an Edgehill Civil War battleground. Today, this green space is used by locals, school groups, and Belmont University athletes alike. One of the park's understated charms? The beautiful skyline view of Nashville that creates an ideal backdrop for your workout or game day.
From Old to New
Back in 2010-2011, the park got a serious facelift thanks to an $8 million investment from Belmont University. These renovations weren't just cosmetic - they upgraded the facilities to meet NCAA Division I standards while making sure the community had access to top-notch recreational spaces too. The result? A park that feels both professional and welcoming, with the kind of clean, well-maintained facilities that make spending time outdoors that much more enjoyable.
Sports Central
E.S. Rose Park offers a variety of sports facilities. The baseball field features synthetic turf and seating for 750 spectators - with nice attention to detail that baseball purists might appreciate. Over at the softball field, you'll find 250 seats and natural grass for a more traditional playing experience.
Runners, take note: the 300-seat track and soccer facility is something special. Its rubber surface offers excellent spring, making it ideal for training without the joint impact of concrete tracks. It's popular among local runners.
The soccer field boasts full-size artificial turf that stands up to heavy use, but be prepared for some windy days. You'll also find renovated basketball courts and a walking track that's ideal for those days when you just need to get some steps in.
Beyond the Game
A 5,150-square-foot center houses clean, well-maintained public restrooms (yes, they're even heated in winter!) and a concession stand where you won't break the bank for a decent hot dog and drink.
Got kids? The playground features a thoughtful canopy that provides shade during hot Tennessee summers, plus safety cushions for those inevitable tumbles. For family gatherings, check out the picnic pavilion beyond the outfield - a peaceful spot to relax after cheering on your favorite players.
The Easley Community Center
Take a step inside the Easley Community Center on park grounds, and you'll find even more to do. Work up a sweat in the weight room, challenge friends to pool, ping pong, or foosball in the game center, or shoot some hoops in the indoor basketball gym. When summer hits, the center opens its pool to the public - making this a year-round recreational destination.
Good to Know
While Metro Parks and Recreation controls the scheduling, and Belmont University's teams are frequent users, the park remains open to the public from 6:30AM to 11PM most days. Just be aware that athletic fields are often booked for university events or local leagues, which might affect your spontaneous game plans. Security officers are present during organized games, adding to the park's safe atmosphere.
Getting There
A word to the wise about parking: it can be tricky. The lot isn't huge, and spaces are scattered throughout different areas of the park. If you're heading to E.S. Rose Park for a scheduled event, arriving early is your best bet for finding a decent spot.
The park's central location and diverse facilities make it popular with both athletes and casual visitors.
