About the Location

History and Development

Pacific Plaza is a 3.7-acre public park located in downtown Dallas, Texas. Situated between St. Paul Street and Harwood Street, north of Pacific Avenue in the City Center District, the park opened to the public on October 14, 2019.

It was developed as part of an initiative to create more green spaces in downtown Dallas, transforming a former parking lot into a vibrant urban oasis.

Design and Features

The park features a central lawn area surrounded by paved walkways and seating areas. A notable feature is the park's pavilion, designed by HKS Architects. This stainless-steel structure incorporates perforated panels that create an intricate shadow pattern on the ground, referencing the area's railroad history through Morse code designs.

Pacific Plaza integrates the existing Aston Grove, a stand of 23 mature live oak trees, which was previously a separate pocket park. This incorporation preserves the urban tree canopy and provides natural shade for park visitors.

Urban Connection

The park's design, created by SWA Group, aims to offer a mix of open spaces and amenities to serve the diverse needs of downtown residents, workers, and visitors.

The park is part of a larger pedestrian corridor in downtown Dallas, connecting other urban green spaces such as Klyde Warren Park and Main Street Garden. Its location in the heart of the business district makes it a convenient spot for lunch breaks, casual meetings, or relaxation amidst the urban environment.
