About the Location

Park Overview

Candleridge Park is a sprawling 125-acre linear park located in far southwest Fort Worth, Texas. The park, which opened to the public in June 1981, originated from a 7-acre tract donated by the Candle Ridge Development Corporation as part of an annexation agreement with the City of Fort Worth.

The centerpiece of Candleridge Park is a 4.5-acre lake, known as French Lake, which serves as a focal point for various recreational activities.

Trail System

The park features an extensive network of multi-use trails, totaling 2.51 miles, that wind through the green spaces and connect different areas of the park. These trails are popular among joggers, walkers, and cyclists, providing a scenic route for exercise and leisure.

Park Development

Candleridge Park has evolved over the years to meet the needs of the community. In 1998, the park underwent playground renovations as part of a capital improvement plan.

Further enhancements were made in 2006-2007 with the addition of a low water crossing, improving accessibility within the park.

Community Hub

The park serves as a natural hub for the surrounding neighborhoods, offering a blend of recreational facilities and natural spaces. It's not uncommon to see residents enjoying picnics, playing sports, or simply relaxing by the lake.

The park's design, which incorporates a large green belt, was a key component in the overall layout of the Candle Ridge Addition development.

Wildlife

Candleridge Park is also notable for its wildlife. Visitors can observe various animal, plant, and insect species throughout the park.

The lake attracts waterfowl, adding to the park's biodiversity and providing opportunities for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers.
