About the Location
Tiny Spot in the City
Highcrest Park is Fort Worth's smallest park, showing that sometimes small spaces can be quite valuable. This little 0.74-acre green space came to life in 2006 when the City Council bought three residential lots from the Nirvana Community Development Group (also known as Mo Peracha) and turned them into this pocket park.
Located in a cozy residential neighborhood, this mini oasis sits somewhat isolated, surrounded by I-35W, Northeast 28th Street, and railroad tracks that separate it from other residential areas. It borrows its name from the addition where you can find it tucked away.
What's There to Enjoy
Though plans for renovation took shape in 2014, Highcrest doesn't try to be something it's not. Instead, it offers exactly what the neighborhood needs - a refreshing green space amid the urban landscape.
You'll find a simple but pleasant walking path excellent for a quick stroll, several benches where you can sit and enjoy some fresh air, and a playground that the little ones particularly enjoy. Need a bit of shade? The park's gazebo with picnic tables provides a fantastic spot to relax or enjoy a sandwich while the kids play nearby.
Before You Visit
Note that there's no dedicated parking lot here - it's a neighborhood park through and through. You can find street parking along the surrounding residential roads if you're coming from outside the immediate area.
This little park tends to be clean and well-maintained, making it an ideal spot if you're looking for a quiet, low-key place where kids can play without the crowds of larger parks. It's not trying to be a destination - just a nice little breathing space for those who live nearby.
