About the Location
Recreation Facilities
Found in Plano, Lone Star Park has been serving up outdoor fun since 2013. The park has playground equipment from Landscape Structures® that isn't just sturdy and safe - it's actually pretty exciting for the little ones too.
Beyond the playground, you'll find a nice basketball court where local ballers often shoot hoops on weekends. The open sports practice fields give plenty of room for impromptu soccer games or tossing a frisbee around. These fields are spacious enough for team practices but casual enough that you won't feel intimidated just kicking a ball around with friends.
Playground Features
The playground is a highlight of the park. With a mix of freestanding play structures, PlayBooster® sets, and PlayShaper® equipment, kids have plenty of options to climb, slide, and explore. It's particularly well-suited for younger children, and we're happy to report it's kept pretty clean - always a plus when your kids inevitably touch everything in sight.
The Oodle® Swing is a favorite spot where several kids can swing together - fantastic for siblings or new playground friendships. The OmniSpin® spinner deserves a special mention too, as it's designed for children of all abilities, making this playground more inclusive than most.
Comfort Amenities
Texas summers are no joke, which is why the shade structures across the park are such a blessing. These provide some much-needed relief from the sun and help protect everyone from those UV rays. That said, on particularly scorching days, you might find yourself wishing for even more shade coverage.
Picnic tables are scattered around the grounds, but they tend to fill up quickly during weekends and holidays - so arrive early if you're planning a picnic. There are also several sheltered areas that come in handy during surprise rain showers or when you just need a break from the sun.
Walking Trails
Paved walking paths meander through the park, ideal for a casual stroll or getting those steps in. If you're feeling more ambitious, the paths connect to the Bluebonnet Trail, extending your walking or biking options beyond the park itself.
What we like about Lone Star is its neighborhood vibe - not too crowded, not too quiet. Whether you're flying solo with a good book or bringing the whole family, the open grassy areas and varied amenities make this a pleasant green space for the Plano community.
