About the Location
Where History Meets Nature
Nestled at the edge where suburbia meets woodland, Kinningham Park spans 6.60 acres in Round Rock, Texas. There's something magical about being at this junction between city life and natural serenity. The park sits on the historic Kinningham property, where the original Kinningham House still stands today, functioning as a reminder of the area's rich past while continuing to benefit the community.
Tall, beautiful trees dot the landscape, offering generous shade and creating that perfect outdoor atmosphere - not quite wilderness, but definitely a refreshing escape from the concrete jungle.
Play and Picnic Paradise
If you're looking to toss a frisbee or kick a ball around, you'll appreciate the spacious practice field that gives you plenty of room to spread out. Around the park, you'll discover shaded picnic tables, comfy benches, and barbecue grills - perfect spots to relax with friends or enjoy a family meal.
Many of these seating areas overlook the playground, making it easy to keep an eye on the little ones while you chat or enjoy your lunch. Just a friendly tip: you might want to check the ground for ants before laying out your picnic blanket, especially during those warmer Texas months.
Kid-Approved Playground
Early 2023 brought exciting changes to Kinningham with the addition of a brand new playground. The modern play area features all the essentials: swings, slides, and plenty of climbing structures - both traditional and netted - designed to entertain children of various ages and abilities.
One thoughtful feature is the overhead cover providing much-needed shade over most of the playground (though the swing area remains sunny, so bring sunscreen!). The playground has a mulch surface and includes some equipment that might challenge the younger crowd, making it particularly great for older or more adventurous kids.
Host Your Next Gathering
The Kinningham House offers rental space if you're planning an event. With 4,045 square feet indoors and an additional 2,700 square feet of covered patio, it's versatile enough for everything from weddings and graduation parties to business meetings and special celebrations.
Know Before You Go
You'll come across plenty of parking spaces available, even on weekends when the park tends to be quieter. One thing to note about facilities: public restroom options are limited to a single porta potty in the park area. The restrooms inside Kinningham House are only available if you're attending an event there, so plan accordingly.
