About the Location

A Place of Honor & Reflection

Situated in Round Rock, Texas, Veterans Park is a community space and a heartfelt tribute to those who've served our country. This peaceful pocket of greenery offers both a place for quiet remembrance and active recreation.

At the heart of the park stands a solemn memorial, flanked by towering American and Texas flags that dance in the breeze. Surrounding this central tribute, you'll find flags representing each military branch: Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard - a visual thank-you to service members past and present.

Fun for Everyone

Spread across two acres, this park packs in plenty of amenities for visitors of all ages. Kids will love the military-themed playground complete with a ship, bus, and clever silhouettes of each military branch where little ones can pop their heads through for photo ops.

The playground doesn't skimp on fun features either - there's a challenging rock wall, monkey bars, climbing structures, tunnels, and even a boat-shaped see-saw. A swing set offers both regular belt swings and bucket seats for the tiniest visitors. Parents can breathe easy knowing the play area is cushioned with soft fill and shaded by mature oak trees.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the park's covered full-court basketball court that's fully fenced - great for pickup games regardless of Texas weather.

The landscaping deserves a mention too, with shade-giving trees and lush greenery throughout. Thanks to a recent wildflower program, spring visitors are treated to bursts of color across the grounds.

Creek-Side Charm

One of the park's natural highlights is its position alongside Brushy Creek, offering tranquil waterfront views and plenty of outdoor opportunities. The dam waterfall creates a soothing soundtrack to your visit, while dedicated spots for bank fishing attract anglers hoping to catch sunfish and Texas Jeweled Cichlids.

Feeling adventurous? The creek is popular for kayaking and floating. If you're planning to dip in for a swim, just be careful - the algae near the dam can get pretty slippery.

All the Comforts

A winding stone pathway guides you through the park's various features, including a covered pavilion that extends over the water. Here you'll find numerous picnic tables - great for family lunches or small gatherings. There's even a grilling area if you're in the mood for a cookout.

You'll find clean, ADA-compliant restrooms and a water fountain for convenience. Across the park, benches invite you to sit and soak in the atmosphere or watch the kids play.

The Story Behind the Park

Veterans Park came to life following a simple question from the late Jim Cours, a veteran and resident of the nearby Stone Canyon neighborhood, who wondered if a memorial park might be possible.

With guidance from Retired Lt. Colonel and MUD Director Joe Teiber, the Fern Bluff Municipal Utility District transformed this vision into reality.

Today, this peaceful park functions as both a meaningful tribute to our armed forces and a versatile recreational space for the Round Rock community.
