Play for All Abilities Park is a specialized recreational space spanning 51,000 square feet in Round Rock, Texas. The park was designed with the mission of providing a safe and enjoyable environment for children of all abilities to play and develop new skills.
Serving residents of Round Rock and surrounding areas, this park caters to an estimated 7,945 people with disabilities in Williamson County.
Play Areas and Features
The park features several distinct areas, each designed to stimulate and encourage the development of specific skill sets. These include gross and fine motor skills, social interaction, sense of discovery, creativity, and strengthening exercises.
The park's layout incorporates wide, smooth pathways to ensure accessibility for wheelchairs and strollers.
One of the key features is the All Abilities Playscape, which includes slides, balance elements, and spinning elements. This area is accessible to all visitors with ramps, transfer points at ground level, and elevated play elements.
The park also includes a Retreat Pod, providing a space for sensory processing and regulation, as well as opportunities for independent play.
Growth and Popularity
Since its opening in 2012, Play for All Abilities Park has become one of the most frequented playgrounds in Round Rock and Texas. The park welcomes an average of 900+ visitors daily.
In 2017, the park underwent an expansion that nearly tripled its original size, adding more play equipment, a nature play area, a tree house, a race track, additional parking, and restroom facilities.
Management
The Play for All Foundation, a non-profit organization, works in partnership with the city to support and maintain the park.
