About North Gateway Park
Location and Initiative
North Gateway Park, along with its neighbor Warm Springs Park, caught a lucky break when it was chosen for the Reimagine Neighborhood Parks initiative - a project funded by the Parks, Trails, & Open Space General Obligation Bond that Utah voters approved back in November 2022. Both parks sit in the Capitol Hill area of Salt Lake City within Council District 3.
This park isn't just sitting still. As of 2025, it's getting a fresh new look through the GO Bond project, with the goal of improving these spaces and increasing access to green areas in the neighborhood.
Community-Driven Development
What's really cool about North Gateway Park's makeover is that it's not just some top-down decision - the improvements are shaped by what the community actually wants, while working within budget constraints and site limitations. The Salt Lake City Public Lands department has been busy gathering input from locals to understand what people really need from this space.

There's also a thoughtful effort to honor the heritage of the various communities who once called this area home, including Native Americans and Hawaiian and Pacific Islander groups. The planned enhancements will reflect these cultural legacies while providing amenities that today's residents have prioritized.
If you're eager to see the transformation, construction is expected to kick off around Summer 2026 - though as with any project of this scale, that timeline might shift a bit as plans develop.
