About the Location

Location and History

Nestled in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Three Creeks Confluence Park is a breath of fresh air in Utah's urban landscape. This green space sits at the meeting point of South and West streets, marking the spot where Red Butte Creek, Emigration Creek, and Parleys Creek all flow together to join the Jordan River.

Completed in 2021, this park has quite the transformation story. What was once just a paved-over dead end has been transformed into a natural area with community space. One of the coolest aspects of the project was the "daylighting" of the creek confluences - basically bringing these waterways back above ground after being trapped in concrete culverts for decades.

Park Features

This one-acre park features restored riparian habitat with native plants and trees. Two pedestrian bridges span across the water, connecting different sections of the park.

You'll come across several thoughtful amenities here: a fishing pier for trying your luck in the water, a welcoming community plaza for gathering, and educational signs that teach you about the local watershed. The pedestrian bridge is decorated with public art pieces selected from over 160 submissions.

There are also several picnic tables with a nearby garbage can - fantastic for an outdoor lunch break.

Recreation Opportunities

If fishing is your thing, the park offers several spots along the water to cast a line. Just know that catch rates can change with the seasons, so patience might be required. Some locals come specifically to try their luck with lures in the restored confluence.

Love to walk, run, or bike? You're in luck. The park connects directly to the Jordan River Trail, giving you access to miles of well-maintained pathways. It's a great jumping-off point if you're looking to embark on a longer outdoor adventure.

Community Benefits

Three Creeks Confluence Park provides recreational space for the Glendale community while highlighting Salt Lake City's urban streams.

The park creates space for environmental education, community get-togethers, and simply enjoying a glimpse of nature without leaving the city. Local schools often bring students here for field trips, taking advantage of the many hands-on learning opportunities about watershed ecology.

Events and Amenities

From time to time, the park hosts music performances and community events, bringing neighbors together in this natural setting. You'll discover a portable toilet near the park for when nature calls.

Dog owners, your four-legged friends are welcome to join you here - just keep them out of the water for everyone's safety and to protect the restored habitat.
