About Bren Mar Park
Park Overview
Positioned in Alexandria, Virginia, Bren Mar Park spans a modest 32.4 acres west of Interstate 395 along Edsall Road. The park is located among the residential communities of Overlook, Bren Mar, Jefferson Green, and the Ridges at Edsall.
While not the largest park you'll come across in the area, Bren Mar offers a surprisingly diverse mix of both active and passive recreation spaces. It offers options for both peaceful strolls and more active outdoor activities.
Natural Setting
Despite its modest size, Bren Mar Park has a distinct character. The park blends open meadows with sections of woods that somehow manage to create a surprisingly immersive forest experience. It's one of those places where you can momentarily forget you're in the suburbs.
A small stream flows through the heart of the park, providing a nice spot for kids to explore nature. Unlike much of Alexandria's typically hilly terrain, Bren Mar offers refreshingly flat ground that makes for easy walking.
The park's trail system includes both natural paths and an asphalt trail that connects to the broader network in Turkeycock Run Stream Valley Park. These trails, while pretty and meant for a casual stroll or jog, are relatively short and could use better signage in some spots.

Amenities

The pickleball courts are a highlight for many park-goers, receiving plenty of positive feedback. If nature calls during your visit, you'll discover a portable toilet located across from the playground.
