About the Location
Breathtaking Views
Spread across 3.4 acres, this cozy spot offers nice views of the Kent Valley, West Hill, and the Olympic Mountains - making for enjoyable backdrops during your visit.
Tucked right into a bustling neighborhood, it's that convenient slice of nature that locals can escape to without actually having to "escape" very far.
The sunsets here are worth seeing. On clear evenings, the valley stretches out below with the snow-capped Olympics in the distance. You can also spot planes taking off from SeaTac Airport if you look carefully - a mix of nature and human engineering in one view.
Facilities and Features
There's a modern playground that's popular with neighborhood families. It includes all the classics: swings (sized for both big kids and little ones), slides, monkey bars, and a climbing tower that's particularly popular with the children.
The open lawn spaces offer plenty of room to toss a frisbee, have a picnic, or just lie back and cloud-watch for a while.
The quarter-mile walking loop works well for a casual stroll or getting in some exercise. The paved path is good for children still mastering their scooter or balance bike skills without having to navigate bumpy terrain.
Parking is available in a small lot, with street parking options nearby when things get busy on those perfect weekend afternoons.
Picnic and Gathering Spots
The spacious covered picnic shelter with multiple tables is often used for birthday parties and family gatherings. You can reserve the shelter ahead of time if needed.
There are two charcoal BBQ grills available for cookouts, with views of the surrounding area.
The shelter area has working electrical outlets - a useful feature that can be convenient when hosting events.
Natural Elements
A small wooded area adds character to the park and provides welcome shade during those warm summer days.
During summer, you might find story times or free lunch programs happening under the trees.
Restrooms and Amenities
Chestnut Ridge has three restrooms with plumbing and running water that are generally clean and well-maintained.
Dogs are welcome but need to stay leashed. The park provides dog waste bags for visitors.
Recent Upgrades
The park got a nice refresh in 2021 with renovations that included updated playground equipment and general improvements to the amenities. These recent updates have given the whole place a more modern, well-maintained feel.
