B.B. Clarke Beach Park sits right on the shores of Lake Monona in Madison, Wisconsin, and its 1.73 acres punch well above their weight as a neighborhood gathering spot. Beach Vibes

The clean, sandy beach that edges Lake Monona is the park's main draw, excellent for dipping your toes or taking a full plunge during those warm Wisconsin months. During summer, a swimming raft bobs offshore, practically begging for cannonballs and sunbathing sessions.

Little ones can burn off energy at the small but well-maintained playground, while the open grassy areas make ideal spots for spreading out a blanket and soaking in those lake views.

If paddling is more your style, you'll appreciate the dedicated canoe and kayak launch site that makes getting on the water a breeze. While lifeguards aren't always guaranteed, swim ropes mark the safe zones for splashing around.

The park bears the name of Bascom Byron Clarke, a notable Madison resident who lived from 1890 to 1929.
