What was once farmland is now a sprawling green space in Madison, Wisconsin, with much of Northeast Park's area intentionally left untouched. There's something calming about having this little slice of nature preserved within Madison's urban landscape.

The park features a 636-foot paved path suitable for a quick walk, jog, or bike ride. The trail is beautifully accessible from either direction and rated as easy - so whether you're a fitness enthusiast or just looking for a leisurely stroll, you can find it comfortable to navigate.

The path has just enough variation to keep things interesting, with a gentle 6-foot altitude change as you move from 991 feet to 997 feet above sea level. Nothing strenuous, but enough to remind you that you're moving through natural terrain.

Peaceful Simplicity

Northeast Park isn't trying to compete with Madison's more developed parks - and that's part of its charm. It's a quiet, unassuming place where you can simply exist in nature without distractions.

Note that this park embraces minimalism in every sense - you won't find bathrooms, shelters, or drinking water here. It's best suited for shorter visits, or if you're planning to stay longer, remember to bring what you need.
