About Cole Park

A Piece of Tempe History

Situated in Tempe, Arizona, Cole Park has been a neighborhood haven since 1969. This 3.3-acre green space honors the legacy of W.W. Cole, a mayor who guided the city through the challenging years of the Great Depression.

Getting There & What You'll Find

You'll discover this charming park just south of US 60, right next to Bustoz Elementary School. In 2006, the park got a much-needed facelift, breathing new life into this community space. One of the coolest features is the bike and pedestrian bridge connecting Cole Park to Rotary Park on the other side of the freeway - a thoughtful touch that makes both parks more accessible.

Need to burn some energy? The park's basketball court offers an excellent spot for a pickup game. If you're bringing the little ones, they'll love the playground that's become a neighborhood favorite. When the Arizona sun gets intense (and we all know it does), you'll appreciate the many shade trees scattered across the grounds.

Places to Gather & Relax

Planning a get-together? Cole Park features several picnic areas with grills where you can cook up a feast with friends and family. The open grassy spaces give you plenty of room to toss a frisbee, play catch, or let your four-legged friend explore (just remember to keep them on a leash, as city rules require).

Note that while you can find drinking water to stay hydrated during your visit, there aren't any restrooms available - something to keep in mind when planning longer stays.

Easy to Reach, Easy to Enjoy

The park's convenient location makes it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. If you're looking for a quick workout, a peaceful lunch break, or a place for the kids to play, Cole Park is a good option. You can reach it from either side of US 60 thanks to that handy flyover bridge.

What's Next for Cole Park

Excitingly, Tempe has plans in the works for additional improvements to Cole Park. It's nice to see the city's dedication to keeping this treasured space vibrant and relevant for future generations of park-goers.
