Meyer Park
About Meyer Park
A Touch of Tempe History
Tucked away at the corner of Dorsey Lane and Alameda Drive, Meyer Park has been a cherished green space in Tempe since 1972. This 8-acre haven sits right next to Meyer School, offering a peaceful retreat from the Arizona heat for locals and visitors alike.
What You'll Find There
Meyer Park strikes that perfect balance between open space and dedicated recreational areas. The generous open fields invite impromptu games of frisbee or a peaceful afternoon with a good book under the sky.
For more structured activities, there's a baseball field, basketball court, volleyball court, and soccer field. The expansive grassy areas are great for everything from morning yoga to afternoon picnics.
Kid-Friendly Fun
The newly renovated playground is a definite highlight for families with young ones. With various climbing structures designed for different age groups (including special equipment for the 2-5 crowd), it's a hit with the little explorers.
Parents can breathe easy knowing that cushioned rubberized turf lies beneath the play equipment, softening any tumbles. The nearby covered ramada offers a shaded spot to keep an eye on the kids while they play their hearts out.
Picnic Paradise
For gatherings with friends, there are several picnic tables and a dedicated grilling area good for weekend barbecues or birthday celebrations. The newer ramada provides essential shade during those sunny Arizona days.
Mature trees dot the landscape, creating natural shade pockets throughout the lush green space - a welcome feature during the warmer months.
For the Four-Legged Friends
Dog owners, rejoice! Meyer Park is extremely dog-friendly, with plenty of open space for your furry companions to stretch their legs. There's even a thoughtful touch - a water fountain for dogs - making it a favorite spot for local pet owners.
Getting There & Good to Know
The park welcomes visitors daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., giving you plenty of time to enjoy all it has to offer.
Its location in a residential area makes it easily accessible for nearby families. If you're driving over, you'll come across a large parking area to accommodate your vehicle.
One thing to note: the park currently offers only portable toilets rather than permanent restroom facilities - something to keep in mind when planning longer visits.
