Esquer Park
About Esquer Park
A Piece of Tempe History
Situated in Tempe, Arizona, Esquer Park spans 3 acres of green space that's been bringing the community together since 2008. The park bears the name of the Esquer family, whose roots run deep in Tempe soil.
Back in 1940, Eduardo and Rita Esquer arrived in Tempe to work the local farms. Six years later, they settled in the Victory Acres neighborhood with their ten children, beginning a legacy that would eventually be commemorated with this community space.
Skaters' Paradise
If you're into skateboarding or BMX riding, you'll appreciate the 7,000 square foot poured concrete skate park that represents the heart of Esquer. The design features two connected bowls - one sporting over-vert pockets for the daring, while the other includes a spine ramp and box ledge meant for stall tricks. It's particularly sweet if you're an intermediate or advanced bowl rider looking to level up your skills.
Kid-Friendly Fun
Got little ones in tow? There's a refreshing splash pad where kids can cool off during those scorching Arizona summers. There's also a playground that's especially great for younger children who need to burn off some energy.
For those who prefer a bit more structure to their play, the basketball courts and table tennis area offer opportunities to get competitive or just enjoy some casual sport time.
Gathering Grounds
Esquer Park really shines as a community hangout, with several picnic areas complete with tables, grills, and shaded ramadas. If you're planning a family BBQ, meeting friends, or just seeking a peaceful spot to enjoy your lunch, these areas provide a fantastic backdrop.
The park is lit up after dark until closing time, making it a viable option for evening outings. And since it's nestled within a residential area, it's just a short walk away for many locals seeking some outdoor recreation.
Good to Know
The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 10PM. One thing to note: there are no public restrooms on the grounds, so plan accordingly.
You'll need to find street parking in the neighborhood, as there isn't a dedicated lot. If you're car-free, the park's proximity to the Light Rail makes it easily accessible via public transit.
The grassy expanses offer plenty of room for your four-legged friends to romp, and several shade trees provide cool spots to relax when the Arizona sun is doing its thing.
