Del Rancho Park
About Del Rancho Park
A Slice of Ontario History
Found on S. Cypress Avenue, just south of Francis Street, Del Rancho Park has been part of the Ontario community since 1965. Sitting right next to Ontario High School, this green space carries a name with deep historical roots, derived from the old Spanish land grant "El Rancho Santa Ana Del Chino".
What You'll Find There
This cozy neighborhood park packs quite a punch when it comes to amenities. If you've got little ones in tow, they'll love the children's play area designed for ages 2-12. The playground features an ADA-compliant play structure and baby swings, making it particularly excellent for the under-6 crowd.
Looking to enjoy a family meal outdoors? You'll come across both sheltered and unsheltered picnic areas with tables scattered within the grounds. While the official listings mention barbecue facilities, it's worth noting that not all picnic spots may have grills available - so you might want to call ahead if that's a must-have for your outing.
Getting Active
When you're in the mood for some light exercise, the park's pedestrian and bike path offers a quick two-minute journey across the grounds on smooth asphalt. Nothing too challenging, but just enough for a pleasant stroll or a short bike ride. There's also a multipurpose field that's ideal for an impromptu game of catch, frisbee, or whatever sport strikes your fancy.
Good news for dog parents: your four-legged friends are welcome here! The park is dog-friendly, giving you and your pup a nice option for some outdoor time together.
The Practical Stuff
Del Rancho keeps things comfortable with drinking fountains available when you need to hydrate, and there's parking for those coming from farther away. If you're planning an evening visit, you'll appreciate the security lighting that keeps the park safely illuminated after dark.
One thing to keep in mind: there are no public restrooms on site, so plan accordingly before heading over.
What makes this park special is its clean, peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained greenery. It's not trying to be the biggest or flashiest park around - just a reliable green space where locals can gather, families can play, and community life unfolds in the heart of a residential area.
