Kimball Community Park
About Kimball Community Park
A Slice of Ontario's History
Found in the southeast corner of Campus Avenue and Walnut Drive, Kimball Community Park has been a cornerstone of local life since 1955. This urban green space pays tribute to Fred S. Kimball, whose contributions to Ontario didn't go unnoticed. As you wander through this long-standing community hub, you can find yourself immersed in a piece of the city's living history.
Get Your Game On
If you're looking to break a sweat, you've come to the right place. The park has multiple baseball fields and softball fields, including three softball diamonds that regularly host local leagues and tournaments. Women's softball events are particularly big here!
Not into baseball? No problem. With seven basketball courts and six volleyball nets, there's no shortage of options for burning off energy or joining in on a pickup game. Whether you're a serious athlete or just looking for some casual fun, these courts are available year-round.
Family Fun Central
Weekends at Kimball transform the park into a family playground. Kids of all ages participate in various sports leagues, creating a lively atmosphere that brings the community together.
The open spaces are fantastic for family outings, but a word to the wise: seating can be limited around some fields. You might want to toss a few portable chairs in your car to ensure everyone has a comfortable spot to cheer from the sidelines.
The Practical Stuff
When nature calls or thirst strikes, you'll discover restrooms and drinking fountains available around the park. Just keep in mind that these facilities are centrally located - which means you might need to trek a bit if you're hanging out at the far end of a playing field.
Getting There
The parking situation at Kimball is... let's call it intimate. The lot is on the smaller side and fills up surprisingly fast, especially during weekend games and tournament days.
If the main lot is full, you can find street parking along one side of the park, but it will add a short walk to your journey. For popular events, arriving early isn't just suggested - it might be necessary if you want to avoid circling the block looking for a spot.
