Only six acres of the property are developed, preserving much of the park's natural character while still providing excellent facilities for visitors.
Therapeutic Recreation Focus
This park serves as the home for the Therapeutic Recreation Unit and the Conejo Valley Therapeutic Advisory Council (CVTAC). This specialized focus makes Old Meadows Park particularly welcoming for individuals with disabilities and their families.
The CVTAC, comprising parents, professionals, and community members, meets monthly to discuss and support programming for individuals with disabilities. This collaborative approach ensures that the park continues to evolve and meet the needs of all its visitors.
Dreamcatcher Playground
A standout feature of the park is the Dreamcatcher Playground, a disability-sensitive and interactive play area designed to stimulate senses and abilities. The playground incorporates unique elements such as a "Playville" miniature village, elevated sand tables, and musical pieces like the Tenor Marimba.
Approximately 60% of the playground is accessible, with surfaces made of sand and rubber to facilitate ease of movement.
Inclusive Design Features
The park's design encourages inclusivity and sensory engagement. It includes features like rolling turf hills, large shaded areas, tree log swings, seagull swings, harmony chimes, and pod seats.
