Walnut Grove Park is a 6.5-acre community park located in Newbury Park, California, which is part of Thousand Oaks. The park, situated immediately south of the U.S. 101 Ventura Freeway on Newbury Road, was named for its numerous walnut trees. The land for the park was acquired in 1981 and developed into a community park in 1994.
The park is nestled next to a creek, providing a natural and serene environment for visitors. In 2017, the playground underwent a complete renovation, featuring race car-themed play equipment that adds a unique and exciting element for children.
Walnut Grove Park is open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, offering ample time for community members to enjoy its facilities. The park is operated by the Conejo Recreation & Park District (CRPD), ensuring proper maintenance and management of the space.
Adjacent to the park is the Walnut Grove Equestrian Center, which spans 14 acres and includes horse arenas, stalls, picnic tables, and various trails for hikers and equestrians. This proximity adds to the diverse recreational opportunities available in the area.
The park's location also provides easy access to nearby natural attractions. It is relatively close to the Arroyo Conejo Open Space and its network of trails, which lead to other recreational areas such as Wildwood Regional Park.
