Park Overview

Located in Newbury Park (part of Thousand Oaks), Walnut Grove Park spreads across 6.5 acres of community space just south of the U.S. 101 Ventura Freeway on Newbury Road. As you might guess from its name, the park is home to numerous walnut trees that add character to this local favorite.

The land was acquired in 1981 but didn't transform into the community park we know today until 1994. The park is typically clean, well-maintained, and rarely crowded - making it a good spot for family time without the hustle and bustle.

Natural Setting

The park sits beside a creek, creating a peaceful natural backdrop that feels worlds away from city life. This tranquil setting offers a nice place to disconnect and relax.

You'll appreciate the trees scattered across the grounds, especially when you're looking for a shady spot to enjoy a picnic or just relax with a good book.

Play Facilities

In 2017, the playground got a complete makeover featuring race car-themed play equipment - definitely a hit with the kids who love to imagine they're speeding around a track!

Thoughtfully designed, the playground is split into two sections: one for little ones ages 2-5 and another for older children ages 5-12. This means parents can relax knowing their kids are playing on age-appropriate equipment.

Parents will find several benches around the playground meant for keeping an eye on the little ones, plus a picnic table nearby for snack breaks.

Recreational Amenities
