About the Location

History and Origin

Fort Boise Park is a 33-acre public park located in Boise, Idaho. The park was acquired by the city in 1950 from the federal government after the Defense Department declared the site as surplus property. It was originally 40.37 acres, but in 1956 several acres were traded to the Idaho Elks organization in exchange for a site of approximately the same size off of State Street.

Sports and Recreation Facilities

The park features multiple sports facilities, including softball fields, a baseball field, and tennis courts. It also contains open grassy areas for recreation, a community garden, and an in-ground skate park.

The community garden was designed to be accessible for seniors and people with disabilities, with concrete paths leading to each table or planter box.

Amenities and Facilities

Fort Boise Park offers both on-site and on-street parking for visitors. Restroom facilities are available during warmer months but are closed during the winter season.

Park Rules and Regulations

The park prohibits alcoholic beverages, including beer and wine. Additionally, motorized vehicles and electric mobility devices are not allowed in the skate park area.

Fort Boise Park serves as a valuable recreational resource for Boise residents, providing diverse amenities for sports, leisure activities, and community gardening.
