Hewett Park
About Hewett Park
Park Overview
Tucked away in West Boise, Hewett Park is a 6-acre neighborhood green space that's been part of the local community since the city acquired it in 1980. You'll come across this peaceful retreat along W. McMillan Road, offering spacious grassy areas great for tossing a frisbee, having a picnic, or simply lounging with a good book.
2024 Makeover
Hewett Park got a fresh new look in 2024! The renovation cleverly combined two separate playgrounds into one comprehensive play area that's now more functional and fun. Instead of having play equipment scattered across different locations, everything's now centralized in a thoughtfully designed space.
What makes this renovation special is its focus on inclusivity - the designers made sure children of all ages and abilities would have something enjoyable to do here.
Playground Highlights
The revamped playground is packed with engaging features for the little ones. Kids particularly love the bird nest swing which accommodates multiple children at once, and the interactive playhouse that sparks imagination and creative play. Active youngsters can challenge themselves on various climbing structures, while the sensory garden wall provides a tactile experience that's especially valuable for sensory development.
One of the most practical improvements is the new bonded rubber surfacing throughout the play area. Not only does this make the playground safer for tumbles and falls, but it's also much easier for wheelchairs and other mobility devices to navigate.
Better Access for Everyone
The park's accessibility got a major upgrade with a new ADA-accessible concrete sidewalk connecting W. McMillan Road to N. Oxbow Place. This pathway makes getting around the park significantly easier for everyone, whether you're using a wheelchair, pushing a stroller, or just prefer a smooth walking surface.
Hewett Park welcomes visitors from sunrise to sunset daily, allowing neighbors to visit throughout all seasons of the year.
