Molenaar Park

Park Overview

A winding perimeter path circles the grounds, offering pretty views of the pond and natural areas as you walk or jog. Molenaar Park covers 20 acres between Victory and Targee Streets near Maple Grove Road, and whether you're a family with energetic kids, a dog lover, or just someone who enjoys a peaceful walk, there's something here to enjoy.

Recreational Facilities

The park features a modern playground that kids typically enjoy. It's not your average swing-and-slide setup - this playground features bonded rubber surfacing making it accessible for mobility devices, and inclusive play equipment like the We Go Round™ and Double Oodle® Swings that everyone can enjoy.

Adventure-seekers can try the zip lines, a 4-person teeter-totter, disc swings, and various climbing structures. There's also a separate area designed with the little ones in mind, so children of all ages can play safely.

If you're into skateboarding, you'll appreciate the skate park that caters to different skill levels. It's particularly good for street-style skating and beginners just finding their balance.

When summer heats up, the splash pad becomes the place to be. Open until Labor Day, it features built-in shade structures and various water elements that provide a refreshing escape from the Idaho sun.

Dog Park

For dog owners, Molenaar's fenced off-leash dog area, which opened in July 2020, gives your four-legged friends nearly an acre of space to run free and make new buddies. The fully enclosed area includes a separate section for shy pups who need a quieter environment.

You can find all the essentials here: grass, trees, mutt-mitts for cleanup, picnic tables to relax at while your dog plays, and water fountains for both you and your furry companion. During warmer months, there's even a dog shower station available - excellent for rinsing off muddy paws before heading home.

Natural Features & Amenities

The park's pond represents a peaceful centerpiece, surrounded by trees that put on a gorgeous color show in the fall. It's a natural magnet for local waterfowl - you might spot ducks and geese paddling around with their young ones in tow.

For those who enjoy sports, there are well-maintained open play areas and soccer fields where you can kick a ball around or organize an impromptu game.

Planning a picnic? Head to the non-reservable covered shelter equipped with multiple tables. The shade it provides is a welcome relief on hot summer days.

You'll also find clean restroom facilities that are open seasonally (they close during winter when portable toilets take their place).
