Shoreline Park
About Shoreline Park
River's Edge Escape
Nestled along the Boise River Greenbelt, Shoreline Park is a compact 1.75-acre haven that packs a punch despite its modest size. This intimate park provides a peaceful retreat where you can unwind by the Boise River flowing gently past.
Tall, mature trees create pockets of cool shade across the park - a blessing on those scorching Idaho summer days. The open grassy areas invite you to sprawl out with a book, toss a frisbee, or simply watch the clouds drift by.
Chill Spots & River Views
You can find scattered picnic benches ideal for enjoying a sandwich or morning coffee with nature as your backdrop. Many locals skip the benches altogether and bring blankets to claim their own little territory along the riverbank. From there, you can watch floaters and tubers drift lazily downstream during summer - a quintessential Boise pastime in action.
The river overlook is particularly nice. It offers views of the water flowing below and birds overhead, making it popular with photographers and nature lovers.
Summer Fun
When temperatures climb, Shoreline Park becomes a favorite local swimming hole. Cooling off in the Boise River while being just minutes from downtown is convenient. The water access distinguishes this park from others nearby.
From certain spots in the park, you can glimpse Green Acres across the way, where occasional music drifts over as people picnic on the hillside. These occasional sounds add a pleasant touch to the park experience.
Greenbelt Access
Shoreline is a natural rest stop along the Boise River Greenbelt pathway. This connectivity makes it equally popular with dedicated cyclists on long rides and families taking leisurely strolls along the river system.
Good to Know
Keep in mind that alcohol isn't permitted anywhere in the park - yes, that includes your discreet wine picnic. Parking can be limited, but that's rarely an issue if you're already exploring the Greenbelt on foot or by bike.
Year-round restrooms are available (though they can be a bit tricky to spot your first time visiting - look near the park entrance).
Four-Legged Friends Welcome
Dog lovers, rejoice! Your furry companions are welcome to join your Shoreline adventures. The park has become something of an informal meeting place for local dog owners, although you'll want to bring bags and keep your pup leashed to keep this shared space enjoyable for everyone.
