Massive, mature trees create a refreshing canopy at Waterworks Park, making it the kind of place where you'll want to kick back and stay awhile. It's a nice spot to read a book or toss a frisbee around with friends, and it's close enough to downtown Ann Arbor that you can easily pop over for a quick nature break.

What makes this park special is how accessible it is amid one of Ann Arbor's main thoroughfares. There's also a lovely garden that adds a touch of color to the grounds.

Get Your Recreation On

If you're into outdoor activities, you'll appreciate the 9-hole free disc golf course winding through the park. It's actually pretty impressive for a neighborhood park - challenging enough for experienced players while still being approachable for beginners.

The open grassy areas are great for impromptu games or spreading out a picnic blanket on sunny days. When it's time to take a breather, you'll come across benches and picnic tables scattered throughout, ideal for enjoying a packed lunch or simply soaking in the scenery.

The sandbox is well-suited for creative play, and there are swings for both toddlers and older children to enjoy. Just remember to pack some sunscreen - this area gets plenty of sunshine with minimal shade coverage.

You'll find street parking available nearby, but note that there aren't any public restrooms on site. The park welcomes visitors daily from 7AM to 10PM.
