This land has quite a history. This park sits on the former site of a paper mill owned by Benjamin Franklin Nelson, a significant Minneapolis civic leader from the late 19th century. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board acquired this land in 1987, and over time, they've added thoughtful touches like a river overlook and a fishing dock.

The care for this space goes beyond just maintaining it. Native grasses and shrubs have been planted along the shoreline to fight erosion and create a healthier ecosystem.
