About the Location
Features and Amenities
Nestled in Minneapolis's Carag neighborhood, Bryant Square Park may only cover 3.66 acres, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in character. Run by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, this quiet place has something for everyone.
The recreation center has seen its fair share of makeovers through the years - all to keep things fresh and functional. One of the standout features has to be the five mosaic panels created by community members that bring themes of water, seasons, and nature to vibrant life. Many locals consider this park an important part of South Uptown. The staff here help maintain a welcoming atmosphere for visitors.
Performance Space and Events
At the center of it all sits the Bryant Square POPS (Public Outdoor Performance Space), a cozy hillside amphitheater added in 2008. This little outdoor venue comes alive during summer months with concerts, theater performances, and community gatherings. It hosts many of the neighborhood's cultural events.
Recreation Options
If you've got kids, you'll appreciate the playground that got a facelift in 2017. It's designed with 2 - 12 year-olds in mind and includes a zip-line that never fails to delight the little ones. When summer temperatures climb, the wading pool and splash pad (completed in 2018) become the neighborhood's cool-down central - a favorite spot for families looking to beat the heat.
Sports enthusiasts haven't been forgotten either. The park offers multi-use fields, a softball field, a soccer field, and basketball courts. Recent renovations have added a skate park and pickleball courts to the mix. When winter rolls around, the ice rink opens up for skating and hockey, complete with a warming room for those necessary hot chocolate breaks.
Facilities and Seating
Throughout the park, you'll find benches and picnic tables that make it easy to relax or gather with friends and family. The grilling areas are great for impromptu barbecues or planned community events.
Need facilities? Restrooms are available in the main building, but do note that their availability depends on whether staff are present and the season. There's also a handy water bottle filler so you can stay hydrated during your visit.
Community Involvement
This park goes beyond recreation by actively supporting community initiatives like the summer meals program, which provides snacks and dinners for children under 18. The indoor recreation facility also offers affordable options if you're looking to host a birthday party or community event.
Despite its modest size, Bryant Square Park offers space for physical activity, cultural events, and community gatherings.
